It is hard to say which shines brighter—the University Area Community Center Complex or its Classroom Annex. Or perhaps it’s the Junior Achievement Center, Bowers Whitley Career High School, or Muller Elementary, a magnet school with a long waiting list of hopeful enrollees. Or maybe what shines brightest is University Park, an area teeming with wildlife that has returned to make this area home once again. And these places are just the beginning.
The UACDC isn’t just a collection of buildings. It is a vision for a brighter future that is made possible through daring to dream. These dreams have led us to the Hillsborough County Service & Indigent Care Clinic, which treats those in our community who can’t afford quality health care. And they have led to Junior Achievement’s Enterprise Village, which serves as a training ground for renewed area economic development. This live-work community philosophy is further supported by the affordable housing redevelopment initiatives to the east of 22nd Street, as well as in the revitalization of 22nd Street itself. The first phase of this transformation is complete, with 22nd Street taking shape as a parkway, complete with covered bus bays, pedestrian friendly sidewalks and safe, well-lit streetscape.
It is this vision of the future that drives us. You can already see where the vision has become a reality within the sprawling campus of the University Area Community Center Complex which includes:
- Bowers Whitley Career High School
- Hillsborough County Service & Indigent Care Clinic
- Junior Achievement Center/Enterprise Village
- Mueller Magnet Elementary School
- PRODIGY Classrooms
- Safe Haven Resource Center
- Sheriff’s Command Center
- University Community Park
To the west and surrounding areas lies only more potential that is coming to life each and every day.
